Rewriting in this case is an act of humility, an admission that God continues sanctifying the soul and making us new creatures in Christ Jesus. Because we will never be the same again, we keep growing in our closeness to our Lord. The closer we are to Him, the more He reveals to us. Geoff rewriting the songs God has given expresses the deeper aspects of the revelation given when the song was birthed. A lot of songwriters would not give way to this leading of the Holy Spirit, to go back and refine the words expressed in the past, so that people may know that God brings brighter light to a soul that earnestly and humbly serves Him, desiring only to draw closer to Him. Bless you Geoff in the Holy name of of Jesus.

a prince was married to a woman who was very controlling.He was very unhappy, felt that there was something missing,he never felt that he had his own identity,he never knew who he really was, his advisers suggested that it was time to live a full and happy life and go with his heart.However,being married to a woman that he felt obligated to through guilt for the way the marriage had begun.When he met a beautiful and intreging woman.They built a friendship that became very special, then one day they decided to give the love that was building a chance to grow.They felt a magic and in a month they experienced what amounted to almost a lifetime of knowing each other.They had a very special bond,an understanding , an unconditional love.As much as the love that they had for each other there was a lot of unresolved pain.The prince confessed to his love that he had betrayed the trust of not 1,but 2 friends by having an affair with both their wives.The princess accepted that what had happened before they had started their relationship was done and gone and was not judged.Was the prince only toying with the beautiful princess?Was it love or just cruelty?

Thanks Geoff for posting your version of events since Hillsongs. I now understand the truth about your walk since Hillsongs and the re-writing of some of your earlier songs makes so much sense. I was in ministry about 12 years ago and have been on a journey which now is leading to the same conclusion, namely that my faith rests on his grace and mercy and in the end falling on my knees before Jesus gives me the best perspective on my place in the kingdom.
